Misericordia provides residential placement; employment opportunities; social, recreational, health and fitness programs; and an array of therapies for 600 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Misericordia's 31-acre campus is located on the north side of Chicago in Rogers Park. Ten CILA, or Community Integrated Living Arrangement, group homes in the surrounding neighborhood are also part of the Misericordia family.
Misericordia encourages family and community involvement in the lives of the residents with volunteers providing crucial support for programs and events.
Misericordia is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that must raise $17 million yearly for program costs not covered by the government.
The Misericordia Hearts & Flour Bakery, The Greenhouse Inn Restaurant, and the Heartstrings Gift Shop all provide job opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
